Bridget is a shelter veterinarian passionate about her work in animal welfare. When she's not working alongside an amazing group of animal advocates, she enjoys spending time with her family (both human and animal alike). In her free time, she enjoys playing board games, reading, playing tennis, hiking, and baking.
Bridget earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Following veterinary school, she pursued further training during a year-long shelter medicine internship at the Dane County Humane Society in Madison, Wisconsin.
After her internship, Bridget worked as the veterinarian at a municipal animal control facility in Rockford, Illinois, where she helped implement policies to more effectively manage the population and to improve the welfare for individual animals. From advocating for daily population rounds and cat hiding places to managing medical cases for shelter and foster animals, Bridget was integral in reducing average length of stay for shelter animals. She was the surgeon for all spay/neuter and other life-saving procedures while at the animal control facility, and went on to perform high-quality, high-volume surgery at a spay/neuter clinic in Madison, Wisconsin.
Bridget recognized the need for veterinary medical care in smaller animal welfare organizations that may not have the resources for a staff veterinarian. In an effort to reduce the logistical and financial burdens of seeking veterinary care at local veterinary clinics, Bridget started Shelter Vet On-the-Go, PLLC to bring regularly scheduled on-site veterinary medical care directly to animal shelters and rescues.
Bridget is passionate about helping animal welfare organizations work within their capacity for care to provide quality care to animals and find ways to reduce the length of stay of their population.
